Election Integrity 101

Hold fair elections, return the rule of law

Hold the Line works to hold state legislatures accountable for passing the election integrity initiatives below.

The 2020 general election exposed systemic problems at the federal, state, and county levels. Our republic rests on the consent of the governed — if that consent erodes, nothing else holds.

We fight to eliminate those problems and restore confidence in the way Americans cast and count ballots.

What we are fighting for

Thumbprint authentication of absentee ballots

A high bar for absentee ballot voting

Abuse of absentee ballots is the weakest point in the system. Anyone genuinely unable to vote in person should have no trouble meeting a high standard to vote absentee.

Biometric and encrypted alphanumeric values should accompany every absentee request, secured with a one-way hash and a protected key, and never shared as raw data with any other government agency.

Done properly, this also clears up the endless disputes over signature verification, witness signatures, and bad-actor ballot harvesting.

Only eligible voters may legally cast a ballot

Mandatory public voter list maintenance

Clean voter rolls stop bad actors from exploiting badly maintained data. Every state must be able to show that its registration list contains only those legally eligible to vote.

Without that guarantee, one state's failures dilute the franchise of every other state. That cannot be allowed to continue.

Paper trails from poll worker to final tally

Secure chain-of-custody for every ballot

Every ballot must travel through a documented, bipartisan chain of custody from the moment it is cast until the final certification.

Drop boxes, ballot transport, and tabulation centers need tamper-evident seals, continuous surveillance, and real-time public reporting.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant

Observer access at every stage

Credentialed observers from every party must have meaningful access to polling places, absentee processing centers, and canvass meetings.

When counting happens behind closed doors, public trust collapses. Transparency restores it.

We will hold the line.
